Yee-Haw! Yahia Gets Call for Tunisia
An injury to Karim Saidi has forced Tunisia to call up defender Alaeddine Yahia for the upcoming African Nations Cup.
Yahia, who plies his time for St Etienne in the French league, was part of the 2004 Tunisian team that won Africa’s premier tournament playing in one match.
The loss of Saidi is a big one for the Carthage Eagles. The defender, who was injured recently during a match for his club team Feyenoord, was a critical part of Tunisia’s stingy defense in last African Nations Cup.
One another note, tournament officials should think about changing the name to the St Etienne Invitational now that Yahia, the sixth player from the French club to be called up for the tournament, is on Tunisia’s roster.
