Well that’s encouraging…

The BBC reports that Slavia Prague has made the decision to drop Tijani Belaid to the reserves due to disciplinary problems!

The Slavia coach had this to say about the situation: “I think he needs to think above all about his behaviour off the pitch, I don’t like his attitude when he doesn’t play or when he comes on as a substitute.” Sounds like Belaid had a few choice words after the crushing defeat Slavia endured to the gunners in this weeks Champions League match. Contrary to what the title of this post suggests, this is very discouraging news coming out of the Czech Republic. The kid was finally starting to make good on all the potential he’s shown (scoring freely for his club and even contributing the only goal in our last national team game) and now he pulls a stunt like this. I don’t know the details of what he said but if what the coach says is true then I’m afraid its Tijani who has to reevaluate his attitude and not let his recent success go to his head. He’s still young so I can understand his frustrations but being substituted and not being chosen is simply part of the reality of being a football player. Thankfully, Belaid will likely return as it is reported his demotion is not permanent. Whew…
