In response to your last point Rachid (management of Etoile), I think that's exactly why I want Marchand to take charge of our Carthage Eagles. He's very level headed and gives chances to young players. He's so unlike Lemerre that he'd be a huge breath of fresh air. Plus he'd justify his choices (omissions and additions to the team). The meeting between him and Sioud has been pushed back to next Monday. Hopefully something comes of it.

From what I heard, this team from Togo is totally within our grasp and I think that playing in Tunis will make a difference. It's sink or swim time and I suspect that we'll pass this test. Nothing comes easy in this competition and if we go beat the odds we'll have a huge boost in confidence. It is worrying still but I can't dwell on it too much or else I'll be pissed off all the time.

Rami, I hate to say "I told you so", but Esperance and CA failed at their first real tests. Losing by 3-1 and 2-0 is not a good start for two teams aiming to go far in these African competitions! Esperance especially is out of shape, and unless they get rid of some of their players, they won't make it. As for CA, I hope they come back strongly, but I still have some doubts. CA fans have to be very careful about not convincing themselves that something is magical when it truly isn't!!! I love l'Etoile, no secret there, but they truly showed an amazing level of play. They even started to introduce few young and very promising faces so that if one key player (e.g., Chermiti) leaves, there will be a replacement for sure. That's excellent management!

Thamer, I went to Etoile's official website and couldn't find his age because his bio isn't fully updated (i guess its since he's a recent addition). I'm pretty sure he's early twenties but I'll look more and get back to you on that... Unless someone beats me to it.

Tamim, I don't blame you for being shocked. I couldn't believe my eyes and it's not even my team. Hopefully they bounce back.
