Tunisia Not Keen on Training or Lodging in Tamale
According to Le Quotidien, the Tunisian Federation has serious doubts about their host city for the 2008 African Cup in Ghana. After having traveled to Ghana to visit the prospective hotels and training pitches, Roger Lemerre and the rest of the Tunisian federation will ask to be allowed to train and stay in the capital, Accra, and then travel to Tamale for their games.
I don’t know what will come of this, but I am worried about Tamale’s accommodations not being up to par. The last thing we want is a repeat of the World Cup hotel fiasco where players felt like they were prisoners in Schweinfurt. There’s a lot that goes into planning a successful tournament and many factors that the public never really sees but the wellbeing of the players and staff is extremely important if they are to make a run for the title.
Tunisia has contacted the teams in their group (South Africa, Angola, and Senegal) to see if they want to throw their names into the mix and lodge a joint complaint that would have a better chance of achieving the desired results.
In Other News
The Tunisian federation is in talks with Zambia, Mali, and Morocco regarding possible upcoming friendlies. All the teams are qualified for the African Cup and would provide very interesting and much needed competition for our national team.
Update
I’ve added longer highlights of the Tunisia/Namibia game in the previous post. You’ll be able to see some of our build up play and missed opportunities as well as the sending off of Yahia.
