Tunisia 4-0 Sudan: Post Match Thoughts

May 28th, 2009 | By: Rami | 9 Comments »

I still haven’t seen the match but from what I’ve read it seems we did what we had to and the team looked good in the first half but then the level of play went down after we took the solid lead into halftime. I’ll refrain from analysis until I’ve actually seen the whole thing…

Meanwhile, you can see the goals here or the ones embedded into the post. I called Ousemma Darragi’s first goal and was close to calling Sami Allagui’s too. On his birthday no less, very nice present he offered himself and he’s quite happy about it.

Seems Chermiti learned from his selfishness that he displayed a few weeks ago with Hertha Berlin and made the right play this time… He came off injured apparently, hopefully nothing serious!

More analysis to come but for now sit tight and enjoy the scoreline. Drop a note and let us know what you thought of the match and the players’ performances. Did you think this was a useful tune up for Mozambique and Nigeria? What did we gain? I’m sure we came away with some things but there is an ongoing debate amongst some that this wasn’t really that worthwhile. I haven’t even seen the match and I’d beg to differ.

Post match reactions here, photos here and here.

Thanks for everyone’s help in getting me highlights (Lazar) and potentially getting me the game (Abdullah and Yassine). I know from experience it’s not easy so I really appreciate it. Hopefully this is the last game I miss for a while!

Most obvious conclusion is that Chermiti/Allagui is a great combination. Allagui displayed great telents; quite a natural offensif player. I cannot even begin to think how it’d be like if Chermiti, Allagui, and BenKhalfallah were all in the game. Add to that Chikhaoui and you have an explosive team! The other obvious conclusion is that Selliti (and Essifi to a lesser extent) has no place in the NT. In fact, Selliti should be happy he has a place in Stade Tunisien! Very useful test that clearly shows we should be very hopeful about making it to the World Cup 4 times in a row!!!

I just saw the list and one question begs to be asked:
Where is Yassine Chikhaoui?
Rami waiting for your next post impatiently to discuss the list for Mozambique and NIGERIA.

I agree Yassine, and Ben Sadaa, maybe his injury is serious. I will discuss more on the next post!

Yassine, thanks for the links man! Can’t wait to watch the game in full.

Meanwhile, I’m about to post the list but without too much analysis as I’m at work. I’ll try to update it throughout the day. I actually think I like it… but perhaps I need to reflect on it further.
