Tunisia 1: Spain 3

I was never as happy in the last 6 months as when Tunisia scored the opening goal.

The breakdown at the end was really gut wrenching. I wished the game ended after 70 mins. In the 2nd half Tunisia didnt stage any attack. The midfielders always played it back to defense and the defense just slammed it back to Spain. As the public has seen when Tunisia ACTUALLY attack they score. In the whole Spain and Saudia Arabia games we saw maybe 10 attacks by Tunisia total and Tunisia scored 3 times.

Spain is a very strong team but I think this performance by Tunisia showed many people that it is really never easy to defeat Tunisia. The defense never rested and Tunisia could never attack, I dont know whether it was bad tactics or just sitting on the lead or Spains overpowering and amazing midfield possession.

Our only hope is For Tunisia to defeat Ukrain in the 3rd match. After all can you expect to go to the round of 16 without one victory. Tunisia took us on a ride today I have never been so happy as to see the first goal but then afte the 70th minute Tunisia couldnt hold on and It was sad to see what could have been an astonishing result. It was great to see so much Tunisian fans. They say that Tunisia fans numbered 20,000 while Spain fans number 15,000 in the Stadium

Lemerre’s plan almost worked, and I commend the heroism and skill of the Tunisian side. It is a pity Santos could not play. You are a very good team and I hope you beat Ukraine to advance.

Taking out Bouazizi for the second game in a row when Tunisia are ahead 1-0 proved to be a bad tactic. It is not only to defend will help preserve a lead, but you also have to have at least one creative midfield player that will pass that killer pass to Jaziri who I thought is the best player in the team and could be even more dangerous if they only provided him with accurate passes. Despite Ukrains thrashing of the Saudis who I think were bothered by the wet surface more than anything, Tunisia can beat them easily. Don’t worry it’s 3 points in the bad I guarantee you that. Possibly the weakest team in the group even if they beat Spain 10-0, you can always tell the lack of quality in the Ukranian team. Good luck, not that you are going to need it, but it good to have it on your side, but beware of the fifa’s choice of the refree’s I think they know what to expect ahead of time. I thought assigning an English refree to the UKR vs SA was deliberate since they knew Ukraine will play a physical game and the english refree was the perfect choice as in England rough play is considered a good challenge!!

Tunisia did a great job, but Spain managed to clinch the victory with a few late but great goals. I was very impressed with the early goal though. I’m hoping for the best in the match against the Ukraine. =) Good luck!

Better luck in your next match against the Ukraine. You played good game, so did the Ukraine in fact better luck for both of your teams.

Yes, you as good as won against Ukraine. Dont even have to try they will make a corridor for you to score just make sure not to loose track of all the goal you make.

hi , well I am writing you from dubai, i am tunisian but i am born in france. I following the world cup like crazy, but felt a lack of comments via the news about the tunisian team, that s how i found your blog. I do completly agree with you Bassam, it was not hard to beat tunisia, although it was easier on the second part of the match. They had to try hard, but their coach is good and ours less aware of our skills. Ayari must have stayed despite of the risk of an explusion…for bouazizi, it s other story….well hopefully they will win versus ukrainia. They can do it if they show consistency. which is our major problem. Well I am glad we had 70 minutes of hopes and dreams, our hearts were beating fast, I really hope we gonna make make it this time.
