Excuse Me While I Mourn My Glorious Lost Post (DIE TOUCHPAD!)
So I wrote up a great preview for this weekends CAF Confederation Cup matches. It was fantastically long and involved; full of all sorts of information and tidbits. To my chagrin (more like shock and utter disbelief) I lost it to the gmail gods. I write most of my stuff in there and transfer it to Wordpress after but somehow my draft got discarded as I was switching tabs in Firefox using the touch pad on my laptop. It’s fair to say that I will have to rethink my operating procedures for safeguarding my writing.
I’m kind of at a loss for words and don’t really want to redo two hours of work. I’d love to throw my computer against the wall but I can’t afford a replacement so that’s out of the question. Not only am I incredibly annoyed but I’m embarrassed. I guess the only good thing about this is this wasn’t a PHD thesis or something… This feeling of loss and regret is still really hard to get over though
I promise I’ll make up for it with a masterful review of the weekends action. Nevertheless, here is the basic information you should know:
Esperance Sportive de Tunis vs. Etoile Sportive du Sahel (Saturday, El Menzah Stadium at 6:00 PM Tunis Time)
One sentence preview because that’s all I can handle in my depression: Etoile will field a new look lineup (Chermiti, Narry, Gharbi, Nafkha, Berradhia all unavailable) versus an Esperance team that seems more focused on prepping for the domestic league.
Club Sportif Sfaxien vs. Platinum Stars of South Africa (Saturday, Taieb M’hiri Stadium at 7:00 PM Tunis Time)
One sentence preview because that’s all I can handle in my depression: CSS will look to advance at home after impressively turning a possible 2-0 loss to a 2-2 draw in the first leg.
Club Africain vs. Djoliba of Mali (Sunday in Bamako at 6:30 PM Tunis Time)
Two sentence preview because it’s my team (still depressed): Club Africain have their backs against the wall after a disappointing goaleless draw at home against a well drilled Djoblia side. Only things to smile about (in theory, I’m not smiling) are the returns of Mouihbi and Ifa to the starting lineup.
Moral of the story: Rami needs to buy a mouse so that he doesn’t inadvertently discard drafts using the fricking useless touchpad on his laptop!
Don’t let this deter you from talking about the games in the buildup. I’ll join in as long as my computer is still in existence.
Ugh.

Rami: loosing files can happen to any of us. It is good like you said this did not happen to a more important file (like a PhD thesis).
Look at this as tuition in the school of life.
Thank you again for all the excelelnt work.

It is very unfortunate to hear what happened Rami
I really think you do a fantastic job writing in here and I want to encourage you to leave this mishap behind..I know how bad it feels when you work so hard on something and then it gets ruined at the end (happens to everyone of us)..just do your best and forget the rest my friend
Now to the football, I just hope that Club Africain can make it to the next round, because they have a very tough match (I think Mouihbi is back with the team isn’t he?) I’m not worried about Sfax, I think they’re through already. The big one to watch is Etoile and Esperance..what a game that’s gonna be..I just hope the fans will behave themselves, and be a good sport no matter what the end result may be.

hey guys im in tunis right now about an hour away from leaving to go to esperance-etoile in el menzah. i havent read your posts in two weeks rami but i<ll be sure to catch up when i get back to new york on tuesday…just writing to say hi to all of you. btw, i went to the club african friendly a couple of days ago…sorry about that rami, but it was only a friendly and they used like 30 players, and bilel ifa played a great game. k i gtg, ill talk to you guys soon.

Thanks for the support guys
Finally checked back here after swearing it off for last night haha. Couldn’t bear to check it as I was still annoyed but as you all said “c’est la vie.”
Al, funny saying man (tuition). Haven’t heard that one before…
Momo, yea Mouihbi will be back for sure. I hope he can make a difference. I agree with you that Sfax is essentially through (you never know but its quite likely). As for Esperance and Etoile, you’d have to say Etoile is favored given their advantage but we’re reminded time and time again that it’s a funny old game.
Thamer, have a blast dude! Thanks for checking in from the motherland. I can see you’re taking advantage of the perks of being back home. Thanks for the Club Africain update. I heard it wasn’t the best game but you confirmed Ifa’s performance. I read he did just as well at left back as he usually does at right. Man, I have high hopes for him. Maybe we’ll see you on TV and not know it haha. Anyways, enjoy the match for sure and be safe.

Thanks for the tip rekflsdf. I am actually a compulsive saver (saving after a single sentence or minor change) but the whole appeal of using gmail was that it wouldn’t take up any space on my computer. It’s basically a free online hardrive which is awesome. I found out the main drawback the hard way unfortunately!
