No worries buddy, I'm not gonna ignore it forever. I definitely want to talk about it. It's been a combination of things. I've been really busy with non blog related activities and I also had to cool down a bit after reading the match reports. I just heard that it was a complete fiasco in the second half and that we did not deserve that scoreline at all. I'm waiting on the highlights of the game to become available (supposedly tonight) to delve into it knowing exactly what happened and judged myself. You know I never shy away from losses, it's just this one hurt more than usual and I've also been unsuccesful at making time... The fact that Grand Theft Auto just came out for PS3 today probably will not help in that regard but I promise I will talk about it. Promise.

Oh and Skander, you hit the nail on the head man. I have always been convinced that Guus Hiddink is a man that could take us to that next level. He has a history of taking teams with similar profiles (potential but not world beaters) and making them overachieve. Australia very nearly beat Italy in the World Cup (remember that dive that resulted in the last minute penalty?) and he had an absolutely spectacular run with South Korea in the one before that. Too bad Russia inked him. They weren't super impressive in Euro qualification but by the time this summer rolls around I won't be surprised if that team is shocking us yet again. He could turn us into something else but who in their right mind would want to work with this FTF?

Wow, I guess I was out of the loop on Mirko. I expect everyone besides CA to advance because our teams are usually very good at home in these competitions. I'll hope for a miracle from my team. Thing is, I don't know how it's going to go without Mouihbi and Gharzoul in the second leg. If it was just 3-1 I'd believe in our chances 100% but man 5-1 makes it tricky as hell. And Thamer is right, I heard this referee was a complete joke in the second half. Still no highlights from the match but that's what all the correspondents are saying.

I mentioned Mirko Slumka earlier because he just got sacked by S04 and is currently without a club. I really like the way Shalke plays and it's thanks to him.
It's true that every Tunisian club lost in Africa but it isn't bad as you think, CSS scored two away goals and it won't be a problem for them to win in Tunsia, EST was in a very bad day but lost only by one goal, ESS too, Chermiti and Gelson wasted a lot of chances.

rami, i heard that the ref was whack, gave two questionable penalty calls, gharzoul and mouhibi sent off. and two of their goals were in stoppage time with a two man advantage. i expected c.a. to lose like 3-1 but i dont think this was a fair result.

Moni, that's an interesting take on it. I'd be happier to stay with Lemerre than bring in Santini. It just doesn't make much sense to me to bring this guy in. He could prove me wrong but just on the face of it, its not good.

Tamim, you're right about that. Both him and Lemerre have been linked with your teams coaching position. I wonder what it would be like to have Lemerre as a club manager. Seems like it would be too many press conferences for him to deal with!

Seif, where do you play man? I live in DC too and play in the Headfirst league (we won the indoor 5 on 5 league earlier this fall and now are in the outdoor spring one). Some competition is good and some just isn't at all... A Tunisian coach is apparently out of the question as they haven't even talked to one yet and pretty much ruled out the possibility. It's a really tough job for a Tunisian coach to take because the pressure on him is always higher and people always wonder if he's biased towards certain clubs. I think we have some that could do it anyway but I just don't see it happening.

Yassine, it's funny your mention the french coach dilemma. None of the french coaches at the previous African Cup succeeded so maybe you have a point. My dream of Bertrand Marchand won't materialize so I'm open to anyone that has the profile to do the job, maybe even Michel Decastel (even though I rate Marchand a lot higher). Mirko Slumka is doing good work at Schalke, I don't know if he'd be interested.

Well guys, I'll post later about our club teams' disappointing displays in the African competitions (everyone lost). Especially CA, I just checked the score and didn't believe my eyes. 5-1 against Eniyemba holy crap. Looks like we're about to be dropped out of the champions league and into the confederations cup. I'm really pissed off and want to see the highlights before I make an assesment of what happened. Shit!

I hate FTF! They know nothing about football.
I don't know why they insist on naming a French coach. I think that we should try something else, a coach that his tactics and his way of playing match the individual style of our players.
Why not try a German coach, like Mirko Slumka?

Hey, I'm Tunisian that lives in DC and always read the blogs :-) and I play soccer and play and very competitive league in DC. To be honest I believe we should hire a local Tunisian because communication is key in Football and If our players have that we can succeed whats does Europe have we don't I believe if we keep it Tunisian and we represent Tunisian football we can go far!
