Quarterfinals Predictions

June 27th, 2006 | By: Bessam | 10 Comments »

Argentina vs. Germany : Rematch of the 1990 final. This battle came much too soon in the tournament with both teams playing amazing football. Argentina wins 3-3 penalty shootout.

Italy vs Ukraine: Italy wins 2-0
Ukraine simply cant go any further playing how they have been against Switzerland and Tunisia

England vs. Portugal: Deco out, Ronaldo may not play. England should hit their high gear and come through
England wins 2-1

France vs Brasil: Ooh lala. This is a rematch of the 1998 finals. France is looking better everygame. (I was dissapointed in Henry acting like he got hit in the face against Spain, he is was too much class for that.) hmm France wins 2-2 after a penalty shootout.

I dont know if i am right, and in some cases I really dont want to be right. I do want to see some battles. I do not like to see players sent of or teams playing with 10 men against 11. I want to see 2-2 games or 3-3 games. What are your predictions?

Well, the quarter-final matchups look mouth-watering save the Italy- Ukraine – who btw look odd being out there……
Argentina- Germany: This shall be an epic battle. Me has a feeling the winner from this match can go all the way, since both of them are playing quality soccer. But, I hope
Argentina avenges their Italia-90 defeat.
Italy -Ukraine : shouldn’t be worth watching.
England – Portugal: Well, Deco may be out, but theres a slight chance of Ronaldo playing. Portugal can win this one unless England improves dramatically. Their midfield is performing well below par.
Brazil- France: I just hope France wins this one. This one will be interesting after France’s display today.

Argentina, France, England and Italy in the semi finals. I think they will all be close games and I hope they aren’t decided due to players rolling around and cheating.

France are going to be tough to beat now, they don’t have the flair of a few years ago but they don’t lose many games at all.

I think though that Ukraine are the only team I can’t see winning the competition at this stage, now watch them go and surprise everyone!

You have got to be kidding me with Germany. This is what has truly annoyed me this world cup. Germany has not played a single formidable opponent. Neither has England. This is why they are in the quarterfinals (especially england who have been playing atrociously). Argentina will stomp on Germany, and I hope they go on to win it. They are the only ones left in this tournament who actually deserve it.

ouaiiih on a gagne, that was a fantastic game. I ve seen all differents newaspaper, el pais, the times, and il corriere de la sera, everyone is impressed by france. “l equipe des vieux” which mean the old team had proved that the mental makes all the difference, and the realism of course. I d say France-brasil or france Argentina for demi final, cheers!

I am disappointed everyone rules out Brazil. This team will go all the way. Rewind to 2002 championships, the team never played that exceptionally well. What they are good at is playing just enough to bit the opponents and I see them doing exactly that all the way to the finals. England, well this could be the end of their run which so far has been nothing but painful to watch. The team has players to win any tournament but they just seem not to be doing the right thing.Without change of strategy, they will surely exit at this stage. Italy will just scrap through, they have been equally disappointing. Argentina v Germany, my money is on Argentina although you can never rule out the hosts. For the first time in years, they are playing some attacking football. I didnt like the way Argentina was stretched by Mexico, a team which was struggling in the tournament.

Germany will probably start very offensive against Argentina and try to get one or two early goals as they did against Sweeden. Germany plays with pace and intensity and should be able to succeed. If the goals dont come in the first half we are up to see an exciting match where Argentina could be able to outplay Germany when the German pace diminishes as the game goes on. Italy goes through without impressing. England will play their best match so far but it wont be enough, Portugal is the better team. I guess France is the only team besides Germany that is able to beat Brazil, but probably will Brazil go through.

You guys, Argentina is out. That game was AMAZING. They both played really well, and I found Argentina was doing better for quite a bit, but Germany will always give surprises! I hope they get the world cup i think they’d really deserve it. They are just one amazing team.
And someone asked why nobody counts brazil to go on? well, coz theyre too selfish and stuff. they (try) to do too many ego-goals. And theyre soooo ugly! They just arent what champions are.
My other favs. were: Ghana (they deserved to win vs Brazil), Australia (the final penalty vs them wasnt THAT necessary), and Switzerland (they payed well but every1 has a bad day).
I just really think that Germany is the only one left that deserves to win. Now that England lost, Brazil, France, Porugal, Italy and them are left. I think some of the portugiese guys are cute, but they dont play THAT well. I hope the final will be Germany vs Portugal. France shud win vs Brazil, coz theyre a very experienced team. and then Portugal will beat them, and Germany will beat Italy (again, theyre not too good) and then Portugal and Germany will be left. Germany, having the home favour and TONS of fans, and of course, being a good team, will beat them and get their 4th cup.
