Only 2 African Referees?
Too bad since Tunisia and other African countries will only see Egyptian Essam Abd EI Fatah and Coffi Codja from Benin as the only two African referees selected to officiate at the World Cup finals amongst 23 assigned to cover the tournament.
Below is the list of referees from each region:
Europe – 10
Central America – 3
South America – 5
Asian region – 3
FIFA President Sepp Blatter has said that these 23 referees are the best in the world who are expected to carry out their tasks exceptionally well.
Will this matter in the outcome of Tunisia and other African countries participating in the competition? Among the players; Trabelski may be the only one concerned. Or maybe no one should.
FIFA knows that referees are going to be a hotly debated issue this time around and are obviously doing the politically correct thing.
Still, having watched the recent African Nations Cup, I can say that some of the African referees are dodgy at best.

I agree and it sits well on the next World Cup in Africa. Dodgy or not, they need to be represented somehow.
