List of U20’s in 1st Annual Mediterranean Tournament

Here is the list of the players who have been called upon to represent Tunisia in this little known tournament. Finding information about the event, which will be held in Italy, has been difficult but I’ve managed to locate the list of the players and the fixtures (props to the always helpful message boards of Tunisie-Foot). The team is comprised of quite a few U17 players that had good showings during their World Cup earlier last month (ie, Nour Hadhria, Youssef Msakni, Mossaeb Sassi, Bilel Ifa, Khaled Ayari among others). The most notable absence from that squad is Rafik Dkhil who looked good when he came on as a super sub on multiple occasions.

The List:
Espérance ST : Habib Tounsi, Sadok Karoui, Sadok Arbi, Med Ali Ben Hammouda, Houssem Mahjoub.
Club Africain : Slim Marzouki, Nour Hadhria, Majdi Makhzoumi, Bilel Ifa.
Etoile du Sahel : Aymen Abdennadhour, Souhail Missaoui, Mossâab Sassi, Slim Jedaied.
Stade Tunisien : Youssef Msakni, Oussama Boughanmi.
CA Bizertin : Farouk Ben Mustapha, Fakhreddine Jaziri.
CS Sfaxien : Firas El Ghoul.
AS Ariana : Khaled Ayari.
Jendouba Sport : Atef Dkhil

The tournament kicks off today with the final scheduled for the 30th. A total of eight participating countries have been separated into two groups. Group A includes Italy, Algeria, San Marino, and Albania while Group B is made up of Spain, Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya. Not sure whether we will hear that much about this but just wanted to let people know it was going on. Kinda wondering why there aren’t more countries participating (especially France) but facing Spain should be a good test for our young guys. Doubt that their star Bojan Krkic will be participating as he has had a few late appearances in Barcelona games. Hopefully some highlights of the tournament will make their way onto the good ole interweb and we can see how our kids are doing against the other U20’s of nearby nations. Whatever the case, it should provide some good experience for our players as a little international competition never hurt anyone. I’m especially interested in our first game today. Make us proud boys!

Bro, I did my uttmost to find more info on this and i havnt succeeded yet.

Rami, thanks for keeping on the cutting edge of the Tunisian footballing world.

Hey guys I found a pretty damn impressive clip showing the Tunisian team in 1978( http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/tunisie/video/x22xep_lequipe-de-tunisie-78_events )

This seemed a fearless team, A team good enough to draw with Germany.

Anyways Tunisian football is yet to reach its heights Inchallah!

amateurs…gotta think outside the box. thank me later.

Not a bad result against a powerhouse like spain, especially considering some of our players are 16 years old.

thanks for the link Bman, i thoroughly enjoyed that video. great find! i’ve heard quite a bit about that team over the years and have only seen short clips of them in action. that one was the longest ones i’ve ever seen. pretty impressive.

Thamer, well done. i saw that on the tunisie foot forum before i went out to get a bite to eat earlier and was gonna post but it looks like you beat me to it. glad to know someone is as obsessed as i am :) i’m not dedicating a full post to the result unless i find highlights or something of the like. its funny that they’re doing penalties as early as the group stages. i guess they want to guard against eventual tie situations or smthn. i’ll take a look around. we should be able to handle the next two opponents and make it into the semis. i really fell in love with this generation of kids during the U17 world cup and i wish them all the best. oh yeah and I guess its U19 not U20 like i thought. whoops…
