Lemerre says Look Out for Africa
Bucking the recent trend of commentators who are predicting an African embarrassment at the World Cup, Tunisia coach Roger Lemerre thinks that European countries who overlook the entrants from Africa could be in for a rude awakening. The Frenchmen who guided Tunisia to an African Nations Cup title in 2004 has been impressed with the level of play at the CAN in Egypt this year.
“I cannot compare the standard of the World Cup, with that of the Nations Cup, but I know that African soccer is growing fast in administration in management and in players quality and the rest of the world must take note or they will pay for it in no time.”
Of course, we have all heard this before but maybe this time the warning should be heeded at least for the the three teams that will face a very good Tunisia side this summer.
