It is official

Haykel Guemamdia will replace injured defender Mehdi Meriah.
Another option in attack. I ceratianly hope he is used effectively.
Here is more on Haykel
Date of birth: 22 December 1981
Height: 177 cm
Weight: 71 kg
Position: Forward
Current Club: RC Strasbourg (FRA)
Haykel did great in the Tunisian league scoring prolificly while playing for CS Sfaxien. Haykel got more recognition during the 2005 Confederations cup where he played very well vs Argentina where he caused a penalty and scored another. After that he was selected by Strasbourg in France to play alongside fellow teammate Karim Haggui. He is likely to go directly into the starting lineup alongside Ziad Jaziri against Saudi Arabia. Chikaoui is the choice of youth and fitness and inexperience, Guememdia is the choice of experience and skill but maybe a low fitness level. What do you think

Also Haykel scored 3 goals in WC qualifying. He has said today that he Kept with the same training regime as he uses in RC Strasbourg and he has not rested much. So this is good. Haykel hawever had to delay his wedding. Oh well the bride can wait, Tunisia needs him now

I’m sure his wife doesn’t mind too much. A good world cup performance will put more money in his pocket and give them more financial security, lol. After all, this is every footballers dream and I’m glad Haykel isn’t going to get denied like it seemed before. As much as I like Chikhaoui, I think it’d be wiser to go with experience in the first game. At least start off with Haykel and see what he has to offer. Then once he gets tired you can put Chikhaoui on to change the complexion of our attack. Could be a good change of pace for Tunisia.

Looks like Chickahoui is starting in Santos’ place. We know he’ll be fit, hopefully he wont have too much stage fright.
