Injury Report: Issam Jemaa Out Of June Qualifiers

June 2nd, 2009 | By: Rami | 43 Comments »

Bad news this morning as it was revealed the Issam Jemaa’s injury was worse than expected. His left knee is hurt (always the knee!) and he will be unable to take part in both the game against Mozambique and the one against Nigeria.

Some people have their personal opinions about this player and find him to be a little too selfish but losing your top scorer less than a week away from an important qualifier is never a good thing.

Add to this the fact that Chermiti re-aggravated his ankle injury in the game against Sudan and that’s another blow. His situation will apparently be clearer later today or tomorrow. Losing both of them certainly isn’t the end of the world but naturally no one should be happy about it.

Plus Lassad is only just coming back from his nagging hamstring problem and probably can’t start against Mozambique (not sure why he would since he’s never even played a friendly with us).

Then again, this is why Humberto Coelho called on 25 players rather than the customary 23. He had doubts about Jemaa from the very start but might have made a mistake in letting Chermiti partake in last weeks 4-0 win against Sudan…

Anyways, the good news is that Allagui is fine and full of confidence after his first goal in NT colors and will surely relish the opportunity to play savior in attack. Him and Ali Zitouni started together in Ghana and played well so it’s possible we may see that attack again.

Finally, our strength is really our midfield and it’s quite possible that most of our goals come from there in our upcoming qualifiers. We would’ve liked to have a full strength squad for both matches but we can’t really complain since our opponents are also having their own concerns in this department. No need to panic but that’s the latest for you.

Best of luck to our Eagles and hopefully this is the last bad news we hear this month!

Update

- Amine Chermiti out of Mozambique match but will continue training to be ready for Nigeria.

- According to Mosaique FM, Lassad Nouioui is in great shape and will be available for Mozambique.

- NT training photos here.

Thanks Achraf :) As you said, inshallah and rabbi m3ana!

Interesting news on Zouaghi… Meanwhile Club Africain and Esperance will play a friendly derby this summer for the first time in their history. Not a bad idea, especially in terms of finances for both sides.

FIFA announced that there will be no more age limit to those players who want to switch their National allegiance, as long as they have not played for the senior National team.

The rule change will benefit many African Nations as there are many players with african backgrounds who can gain from this change.

That means Khedira also could change his mind :D , i think there may be a couple of players who could still choose Tunisia especially if they are up to date on our recent achievements even with local players.

Yes that’s true abdullah :D . I really hope Khedira wonät get a call-up from Germany’s senior squad. but i think he sat on the bench in one of their matches in the qualifiers.

There should be no Excuses of not selling out Rades on Saturday. They are already saying free tickets for children under 12 and women, and now the ftf is giving out free bus Rides from the following Places:
Stade Olympique d’El Menzah – côté Pelouse
Place Barcelone – Tunis
Parc A et Parc B
Bab Alioua
Metro Ben Arous
Metro Bardo
Place Bab Saadoun
http://www.ftf.org.tn/fr/articles.asp?artid=1676

I just can’t wait for Saturday, I am not as nervous as I was against Kenya but Mozambique is till a scary team.

Guys i have to say the Mozambicians are real fighters and can not be underestimated, however i watched the highlights of their game against Nigeria and it seems as if Nigeria’s defence really doesn’t pressure when they lose possesion of the ball, this is what gave Mozambique their space and opurtunities to attack, at times their whole defense even froze.

Mozambique will take the chances when they get them, it is only if we keep pressuring them we will be able to keep them on their own half, i respect Mozambique and we should not underestimate them but at the same time also don’t overestimate them.

Rami great blog on goal.com. Just wanted to give you a heads up though, since you have a small mess up at the starting IX (the roman numeral), shouldn’t it be XI??

He said himself two bundesliga teams are in an advanced state of negotiation with him..

And apparently they have 10mil to spend so his pricetag would be very attractive to them 1,5mil he’s worth according to transfermarkt.

Ramzey thanks man! I’ll go in and change it. I copied it off someone else’s template they provided me with and just didn’t double check! serves me right I guess lol.

Here’s another editorial on Goal.com, this time about the possibility of a first African World Cup meaning a first African Semi Finalist: http://www.goal.com/en/news/1863/world-cup-2010confederations-cup/2009/06/05/1306849/world-cup-debate-first-african-world-cup-could-mean-first

Thanks for the feedback!

Abudllah, you’re right about Mozambique. Coelho’s repeated the word “pressure” about five or six times in the news conference. We’re gonna press them high. You can’t let them play but its good one of our main strengths is “bloc” defense. Now we just have to make sure its up high which I’ve seen improvements in since he’s come.

Achraf, I think we’re finally gonna see Rades get quite full. Maybe not to capacity but mosaique has been giving away tickets and building anticipation. Plus there’s no other soccer going on and its vacation. inshallah it happens.

Plus Domenech is famous for picking players of dual nationality and fielding them once just to ensure they don’t play for other countries…
