The FTF announced a few days ago that they will be holding an open training camp in Paris at the beginning of next week in an attempt to unearth rising Tunisian talent who are between the ages of 14 and 16. The two day endeavor begins on April 20th.

While we’re quick to criticize the FTF (and rightfully so most of the time), this is an excellent initiative.

It shows we’re getting more adept at catching our European based players early enough to make them feel like they should be sporting the red and white for the rest of their international careers.

Out of all the Maghreb teams you’d have to say we’ve been perhaps the most successful in getting our dual citizens to opt for the Carthage Eagles.

If you are or you know a Tunisian youngster between the ages mentioned who is part of a club side in Europe then you can sign up by contacting:

Tunisia is mourning the passing of two young supporters of CSS and EST who fell to their deaths in separate tragic incidents at Taieb Mhiri and Rades Stadium. Incredibly depressing and my heart goes out to their families and friends.

Goes to show that security measures in our stadium leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully this leads to a drastic reevaluation of the current situation. Better security measure are past due.

Rest in peace Hamdi Rekik (19) and Kamel Talbi (20). Allah Yar7amhom. Thoughts and prayers to their grieving families in this difficult time.

This is great finally our hopes are on the verge of becoming reality, read your article about Saif Ghezal Rami and i can honestly say i expected him to get the attention from bigger clubs sooner or later :D

only thing that is worrying me is his age, i know that doesnt nessesarily mean he is not able to play at a higher level but i can’t stop to think that it might cause him some trouble in the future.
They may prefer a younger player instead of him, but on the other hand there are numorous players who proved this theory wrong(giggs, neville, scholes etc).

What do you think about this Rami?

Hey Abdullah, good question :) I think that given his skill set (excellent positioning, good in the air, ability to score from time to time) and also his exemplary attitude he can definitely play in a better league. It’s true he’s not the youngest guy (27 if I recall correctly) and also not the fastest but he makes up for it by knowing where to stand on the pitch and having above average anticipation skills. I doubt he’ll make it to a “big” club but Lille and Borussia Dortmund are nothing to frown at and if they’re showing interest then he’s definitely already proven he had the level to play well in either league.

I hope he succeeds but its true he left a little late in his career. It’s true with a number of our players. Our big teams have the money to pay these guys decent enough wages that they don’t force moves. Unlike sub saharan talent where the players leave for Europe when they’re just kids.

Btw, here’s my latest goal.com editorial on Chaouki Ben Saada and Alaeddine Yahia’s situations with Humberto Coelho, it’s probably nothing you didn’t know already but I make the case that it’s time to call Ben Saada back: http://www.goal.com/en/news/89/africa/2009/04/17/1214419/is-it-time-for-chaouki-ben-saada-and-alaeddine-yahia-to-return-f

Your opinions are always welcome of course :)

If anyone speaks German, lets us know what Chikhaoui’s coach said about our boy at the end of this video. Its feature Chi5a taking part in full training. He still looks good! Very nice to see :)

Houssem from the Etoile blog actually already translated it for us (Thanks man!)

Challande says: “You can say he’s hungry, he’s also happy. I asked him how he was doing and he told me it’s good to be here and to play football. He definitely wants to play again, and I believe it can be very interesting for us and for himself. He now has a very good feeling, wants to play, and it can only get better.”

I am happy to see Ghzal getting interest from other top leagues! As we saw Mikari leave from the swiss league to Ligue 1, was a good move for him and is helping schaoux not get relegated. Ghzal should dollow what Mikari did!

As for Ben Saada and Yahia (Good article by the way Rami), we could use them both against Nigeria. They have been playing well lately and can make a big difference. Out of all the Tunisian players Yahia is playing the most minutes for his club. After seeing a poor central defense against Kenya, The problems need to be fixed and Yahia could be the answer. I would like to see a defense of Ben Radia-Ghzal-Yahi(or jmel)-and mikari. Jaidi is now 33 and is getting slower every time I watch him play. And Hagui cannot be a starter until he gets a new team.

I just hope Coelho and Bensaada and yahia can get into an agreement.

Lassad will start again today vs Athletic Bilbao, the opinions are divided but i think there wasn’t really much he could do previous match, therefore lotina made some changes in the line-up.

And knowing that Lassad hasn’t played a bad match since he’s in Depor’s 1st team im glad Lotina hasn’t given up so easily on him.

Lassad allah ie sa3dek!

Hey Abdullah, below is a link to the standings. They’re just out of the top three with 6 matches left to play so they still have very good chances to go up next year. They just need to keep winning and hope for a slipup from Mainz or Nurnberg (hopefully Mainz since Nurnberg is Mnari’s team).

If they go up Allagui will have played a huge role in their promotion, him being top scorer in the league and all :) I hope they manage to pull it off. Otherwise if they stay down perhaps someone will come along and try to buy ALlagui off them. Not sure how willing they will be to part with his services but if the price is right then you never know.

hertha:bremen 2-1,
Chermiti got 20 minutes to play. He was very motivated had a header on the post and prepared the winning goal after he stole the ball. Yet the shot from Rafael was impressive. But this time i have to admit that chermiti impressed me in his 20 minutes. Well hope he continues that way.

Agreed Saber, it was his first convincing game with them. In 25 minutes he hit the post with an accurate header, made a strong steal (could’ve been called a foul but still great will on his part) and then followed it up with an assist to Raffael. Made the final play of the game with another header too but the goalie was equal to it. Really happy for him and I think he’ll get more playing time after that showing.

Fürth will sure have it hard to make it to 1st Bundesliga. lately they are not showing a constant face yet they might have a chance to make 3 place and play relegation games with the third last from the Bundesliga. About Allagui he has been since a long time scoreless and I have to say that he doesnt have a good standings in the eye of the German public.

Really Saber? I didn’t know that? Is it because he chose Tunisia and not Germany?

No Rami? thats not the reason!! Its because he just showed a good face in the first half of the season. Last season was not so well but there he was injured. and in this half of the season there is almost nothing coming from his side….!! and if you read the german forums or newspaper the people are not impressed and mostly think that he just had a lucky strain and now it left him. and there are here really zero rumors about interested teams on his service. I have also to say that his trainer still believe in him and willing to give him the chance even if he dosnt score and he also said that this can happen to any young player.
