Coaching Changes?
According to L’equipe, the Tunisian Football Federation has contacted Jorvan Vieira, better known as the former coach of the Iraqi team of destiny that shocked the world by lifting the Asian Cup last month. A few random but interesting facts is that the guy is both a Muslim and a speaker of Arabic as well as 6 other languages (thats right s-i-x). What a player (in the other sense of the word). He is a former player (soccer player. confusion intended) and has coached a number of Arab clubs and national sides. Apparently the guy is in high demand which I suppose is normal when you manage to take such an unlikely team all the way at a continental competition. China, Australia, South Korea, Turkey, and Qatar have also reached out to the Brazilian manager. Wherever he lands, you can bet he’s bout to make boatloads of money. Not sure about his musical taste, but when his team was lifting the Asian Cup I have this vision of him humming 50 cents track: “I’m laughing straight to the bank with this, HA HA HAHAHAHA!” Can’t you see it? Maybe its just me…
I’m sure Lemerre isn’t too happy to hear about this….His contract doesn’t run out until 2008 and he has an option to stay on until 2010. More on this story as it develops. Though it may take some time since Vieira is quoted in the article saying that it will take him about three months to decide as he enjoys his vacation in Morocco. If I were him I’d take my time too, Morocco is a fun place. Take me back…
