Comeback Kids: CSS Reach African Confederation Cup Final

October 6th, 2007 | By: Rami | No Comments »

css-3.JPGToday, CSS overcame an early first half goal, a blind ref, and some bad luck to come back late in the game and score two goals to give them the necessary three points to qualify for the Confederation Cup Final. Playing away from home, in a relatively empty stadium, and against determined competition that had nothing but pride to play for (Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa), CSS managed to come back in the last fifteen minutes. They had multiple opportunities to take the lead and amongst a disallowed goal and a clear un-whistled penalty kick, they kept fighting and found the wherewithal to accomplish their task. In a continuation of the Sudan versus Tunisia games of late (ESS faces Al Hilal of Sudan later today to decide who goes to the African Champions League Final), CSS will almost surely face Al Merreikh of Sudan in the upcoming final. Mabrouk (congrats) to CSS!!! We have a chance to take both continental prizes this year. Let’s hope ESS doesn’t concede away goals in their game and gets one of their own to make it two finals in one day for Tunisian soccer.

Heres the video of the last 20 minutes or so:
