Changes for Spain

June 15th, 2006 | By: Bessam | 3 Comments »

There are things that can be done to improve Tunisias performance on the pitch.

1. Avoid careless fouls
As you see though Tunisias technical style may be European we play a rough defense like All african Nations. There were 4 yellow cards for Tunisia yesterday. Against Spain this is a horrible idea. They are amazing at free kicks and they are going to be all over the penalty area. We certainly dont need a man sent off like Ukraine. Its hard enough to defeat them with 11 men

2. Lineup changes
It looks like Santos still wont be able to play.

What Tunisia needs is its midfielders need to keep possession of the ball and they need creative attacking midfielders to work with the strikers and create scoring chances. Ben Sadaa may be able to do this more effectively then Namouchi because Ben Sadaa can be a genius on the ball andNamouchi was lost yesterday.

Nafti should play because he has desire and intensity and that translates into good play. Bouazizi should play as well because after he was substituted Tunisia really fell apart. Instead of Chickaoui, i think Gmamdia should be put on he can score and was great at the Confederations cup last year.

Trabelsi yesterday was really stuck in defense I only saw him attack as usual after the 90th minute. I say move him to right midfield, that way he can cover a Spanish midfielder, and Spains midfielders hold the key because they are like conductors of their orchestra setting up the strikers for goals. Jemmali is a very good right back, I say move him to right back. He was Uncomfortable at left back yesterday. If you have Trabelsi and Jemmeli on the right, the whole right side of Spain will be shut down. Both are amongst the best right backs in the world and Trabelsi will be closer to attack. Then bring in Ayari as the left back. He is solid there and left footed as well.
In goal i wasnt that impressed with Boumnijel. Kasroui is pretty good, I am defintly open to bringing him in though he may lack the leadership of Boumnijel. So my suggested lineup is 4-4-2

Goal: Boumnijel or Kasraoui
Defense: Jemmali, Jaidi, Haggui, Ayari
Midfield: Trabelsi, Nafti, Bouazizi, Ben Sadaa
Attack: Guememdia, Jaziri

If Lemerre trys this I think we will get some very interesting results

Being Spanish and a fan of La Seleccion, I won’t go so far as to wish Tunisia luck, but I hope they win second place. Tunisia is now a familiar face at the finals and it would be nice for at least one African team to advance.

Asking them to control the midfield against Spain is asking a lot, however.

Thanks Roland, Yeah it is asking alot but how else can you beat Spain. It is a good opportunity even to get to play Spain, in order to gauge the strength of the team.
