Amine Chermiti Coming to a Runway Near You?
Seems that our boyo is taking advantage of that rehab time to make some new friends. Amine Chermiti has caught the eye of “celebrity fashion designer” Michael Michalsky and is set to debut his modeling career in a few weeks at his first photo shoot. Call me out of the loop but I didn’t even know who this Michalsky guy was before I read this piece. Not that that’s a knock on him… or me.
Apparently Michalsky worked at Adidas from 1995 to 2005 before leaving to found his own label. The tag line for his brand is “real clothes for real people.” I gotta say that’s comforting because I wouldn’t want Amine wearing fake clothes for fake people or imaginary clothes for imaginary people. Dude’s got real talent, real charm, and real pace so it seems like a logical fit.
This is the first such endorsement deal for any Tunisian player and that’s all well and good. It should boost his marketability and get him some face recognition in Germany and elsewhere in Europe. The kid is already photogenic and has the prerequisite looks and fitness to be successful in his new gig but we’re far more interested in him making an impact ON the field with Hertha Berlin.
Speaking of which, in an interview he gave on the 12th of this month, Chermiti said that his knee was healing faster than expected (you gotta love the recuperative powers of youth) and that he should be back in 3 weeks. If that’s true, then that mean he plans on being match fit by the 3rd of October. This coincides with Chikhaoui’s Oct. 2 target date and also gives him an outside chance of making the Seychelles and France matches which follow on Oct. 11th and 14th respectively. May his body continue to cooperate, in front of and far away from the cameras.

Tijani Belaid can’t stop scoring doubles! Last weekend he blasted on with his left from long range and then added a second on a well taken full volley. This takes him to the top of the Czech scoring table with 6 goals in the young season. Slavia Prague knew what they were doing when they resigned him. Video here.
Issam Jemaa got in on the double action himself, scoring twice in the Coupe de la Ligue against Hamed Namouchi’s Lorient. After some time on the sidelines it’s nice to see him playing and finding the net again. Quality goals too. Video here.
