African Teams
We have gotten a good look at the African teams. Ivory Coast, Angola, and Ghana have played 2 games. Togo and Tunisia have played one.
GHANA
I would like to say first and Foremost that I was thrilled to see Ghana not only defeat but dominate the Czech Republic. Not only for the joy for the people of Africa but in order to display proof of the reality that most people should know already. Africa can play football with the rest of the world.
Ghana ran nonstop. They played physical against one of the largest teams at the world cup. Grant it the Czech republics’ 2 first strikers were injured but this is an amazing victory and done with authority. If they can contine like that and improve their finishing they can be legendary. I am learning more and more that teams with a great midfield can play better then teams with a good defense or teams with a good attack.
IVORY COAST
Pick any other group other then group C or E. If Ivory Coast was in that group then they would be advancing to the 2nd round. Think about this. You have to be a good team, Loosing 2-1 to both Argentina and Netherlands. They gave up 2 early goals in each game and then dominated. However throught these games, they showed that they will fight until the end as well as creat major problems for the opposition. They are alot stroger then most of the teams we have seen in other groups. Unfortunatly the reality is they lost to Argentina and Holland the first round, other teams will loose to Argentina and Holland later on in the tournament.
ANGOLA
Angola is showing the heart required to succeed. Of course at least one victory is required in the first Round and maybe they can achieve victory against Iran in their last game of the group phase.
TOGO
Togo fought well. They need to make their whole organization more organized so they can focus solely on football.
TUNISIA
I feel ok with the tie against Saudi Arabia. I will have alot more to say once Tunisia play Spain. I do feel like there is more potential and am hoping for a Ghana like upset. But the midfield which i thought was the weakest part in the first game must do a complete 180.
i saw a common theme in the good african teams that if they corrected they could be great. They try and strike for goal instead of making that one extra pass. Notice Argentina hardly ever score from far, they take the time to make that one extra pass to someone in a better tposition then them to score. Before I criticize African teams too much let me consider some of the teams they had to face in their first 2 games: Italy, Portugal, Holland, Argentina, Spain, Czech Republic, Mexico. ok i feel better now
Africa is shaping up. Togo, Tunisia, Lets have some victorys!
